Icon Painting With Peter Murphy Peter will teach traditional Byzantine icon painting techniques and early Italian panel painting techniques, which includes the use of gold leaf for backgrounds and halos. The tempera paint used will be made from scratch each day using eggs and dry pigments. To ensure that students receive individual attention, course numbers will be strictly limited to ten participants. Tuition will be friendly, informal and constructive. The course fee includes tuition, materials for your own first icon and a daily buffet lunch which weather permitting may be taken in the garden. Participants may wish to bring their own fine brushes if they have them. Tuition is daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with one hour off for lunch. If you wish you can continue to work (untutored) on your icons until 6:00 pm. |
